Creatures like this come slinking out of the shadows when the sun droops below a hazy summer horizon line. They see very well in the dark and their bendy twisty eye stalks let them peek around corners to better find the meat.

When the moon rises full in the sky and a chill lays down on the land only one predator hunts donkey with impunity. It's the giant hairy feather-rimmed owl. The large chimp-like digits are especially effective with their long talons and thumbs.
